FLEXIBLE MINI RS-232 to FIBER OPTIC CONVERTER |
APPLICATION DIAGRAM
|
DESCRIPTION
Fiber optic is generally used anywhere that HIGH SPEED, HIGH SECURITY or operation
through ELECTRONICALLY NOISY or VOLATILE environments is required. The F-232 may
also be considered to address the copper cabling restrictions of the newer high
speed serial ports on PCs and modems (115Kbps) when used over longer cabling
distances.
Three models are available. They are differentiated by their power sources.
The basic, stand-alone unit has a small wall mount 9VAC transformer.
A "MUX" version takes its power from the 12V test voltages (pins 9 &
10) of the RS-232 interface. The rack mount "Nest" version is compatible
with the power requirements for CPS's MT-Nest.
The F-232 has three LEDs, a DCE/DTE switch, and a test jumper located between the
"ST" style fiber connectors. It is optimized to operate over 62.5 micron
fiber cable at distances up to two miles.
