A customer had a need for about eight of his staff to occasionally access a remote database over dial lines. The host with the database would process the request and dial the return number stored in the database, similar to a dial back modem application. The problem was to get it back to the person that initiated the request. The customer only had one line and didn't want to install eight separate lines He solved the problem by installing CPS's MRS (Modem Router Switch). Now the host computer has eight different authorized phone numbers, all, of which, are same except for the last digits, which are a MRS port number. The MRS then receives the return call and routs it to the proper port (person). It is just six more digits on the end of the AT dial string. |
