DESCRIPTION
The MT-CONa is a redesigned Mini RS-232 TDI Converter. It has a more robust
higher speed circuit and includes built-in surge protection and an
anti-streaming feature that is required on some of the newer PC platforms,
which tend to "stream the line" on bootup. It is also compatible with CPS's
MT-NEST that can hold up to 16 units in a
19" rack mount type of enclosure.
The anti-streaming circuit will disconnect terminals from the TDI line when
it senses a streaming condition. This prevents the streaming terminal from
taking down the entire TDI line or an entire multi-point modem network.
Most terminal failures also result in a shorted or streaming condition.
In spite of its small size, the MT-CONa offers performance specifications
far beyond the UNISYS specifications for TDI. It has been tested at speeds
up to 115Kbps. Mixed capacitance cable distances of up to 5000' with 50
devices on the line have also been successfully tested. However, the actual
performance may be dependent on your TDI environment.
Because it is an AC powered device, it also offers active line termination
when installed at the end of a line or at the ends of lines in star types
of topologies.
The MT-CONa has three LED indicators and an external DTE/DCE switch. It
provides a female DB-25 RS-232 connector and a male DB-25 as the standard
configuration. A variety of optional RS-232 cable ends and TDI connectors
are available:
