DESCRIPTION

  • Programmable through the TelCo line port
  • Automatic 7 day repeat cycle
  • Easy exception programming
  • Password protected
  • Stackable four port units
  • Unlimited number of TelCo lines
  • Manual override switch

What it does... The FLIP SWITCH will automatically switch up to four telephone lines that are connected to the unit's "TelCo Line Ports" to an "Alternate" set of four connectors (normally connected to a network) and back again to the "Normal" set of connectors (normally connected to the PBX) at predetermined times. The switching times are user programmable or they can be controlled through a manual rotary switch.

The "Alternate" access link to the network can be established through a modem access server on a LAN or by connecting directly to the PC's modems, using a remote control program. They may also be connected directly to an Internet server if it supports dial access.

Applications... The FLIP SWITCH is great for schools, government, or other businesses that have primarily a 9-5 operation and have the requirement to provide additional dial-in access after hours or on the weekends. The lines are paid for 24 hours per day. The more popular application for the FLIP SWITCH is to provide additional dial access to the company's Internet or intranet server as well as other company servers.

It also addresses other applications where additional blocks of dial access time (in or out) may be required at scheduled times or on a dynamic basis. Such as for hot site backup applications.

How it works... The FLIP SWITCH is programmed through the touch-tone key pad from any telephone (no modem is required). Basically, the "NORMAL" and "ALTERNATE" switching times are entered. They are then assigned to each day of the week (1-7). Exception days, such as weekends are also specified. The weekly schedule will repeat each week. If a holiday (planned or unplanned) occurs, the unit can easily be reprogrammed for the exception by calling the unit and entering the "NORMAL" or "ALTERNATE" code for that day. A manual override switch is also available to select "NORMAL", "ALTERNATE", or the "PROGRAM" mode of operation.

You can stack them... If switching for additional TelCo lines is required, multiple units can be stacked together. Each switch in a stack can be configured as a MASTER allowing it to be programmed individually or as a SLAVE, allowing it to take its switching time cues from the MASTER. There is no limit to the number of TelCo lines that can be accommodated in this manner.

For easy installation, all of the ports have standard RJ-11 telephone style connectors.
